How the Fund Flow Works
CardNexus uses an escrow model to protect both buyers and sellers. Here's how your money moves from sale to payout:
Buyer pays at checkout — funds are captured immediately by Stripe
CardNexus holds the funds — the money stays in escrow while the order is in progress
Delivery is confirmed — via tracking data or buyer confirmation
7-day review period — the buyer has 7 days to inspect the cards and raise any issues
Order completes — if no disputes are raised, the order is marked as completed
3-day settlement delay — an additional safety buffer before the transfer is created
Funds are released — your earnings arrive in your Stripe Connect account
The escrow model means buyers are protected (money isn't sent until delivery is confirmed) and you're guaranteed payment (the money is already captured before you ship).
Timeline Summary
In most cases, you'll receive your funds roughly 10–14 days after shipping, depending on delivery speed and whether the buyer confirms receipt early.
Fees Are Deducted Automatically
Your seller commission is deducted from the payout — you never pay upfront. The fee depends on your region:
The "order total" includes the item subtotal and shipping cost.
Example: A buyer purchases €55 of cards from you with €5 shipping (€60 total). Your fee is €60 x 5% = €3.00. You receive €57.00.
For the full breakdown, see the Fee Structure Overview.
What About Coupons and Promo Codes?
If a buyer uses a promo code at checkout, CardNexus absorbs the discount — not you. Your payout is always based on the full sale amount minus your commission. Coupons never reduce what you earn.
This is a deliberate design choice. We want sellers to always receive their expected payout, regardless of any platform promotions.
Withdrawing Your Earnings
Your earnings accumulate in your Stripe Connect account. From your Sales page, you can:
View your current balance — see how much is available
Request a payout — transfer funds to your connected bank account
View payout history — track all past withdrawals
You need to complete identity verification before you can request your first payout.
Common Questions
Why is there a hold period? The 7-day hold after delivery gives buyers time to inspect their cards and report issues. This protects both parties — buyers get a safety window, and sellers are protected from false claims made long after delivery.
Can I get paid faster? If the buyer confirms receipt early (before the 7-day window expires), the order completes sooner. However, the 3-day settlement delay still applies after completion.
What if there's a dispute? If the buyer opens a dispute, funds are held until the dispute is resolved. Depending on the outcome, you may receive full payment, partial payment, or a refund may be issued to the buyer. See How Dispute Resolution Works for details.
What currency do I get paid in? You're paid in the currency you sell in — EUR for European sellers, USD for North American sellers. This is determined by the country you selected during seller onboarding.
