Creating a list and adding cards

How to create a new list, the six ways to add cards to it, and how per-card settings like quantity and condition work.

This article walks you through creating a list and filling it with cards — whether you're typing names one by one, importing a file, or scanning cards with your phone.

Creating a list

  1. Go to the Lists tab on your profile and click Create new list.

  2. Give it a List name.

  3. Pick the Game. A list can only contain cards from one game, so choose carefully — you can't mix games later.

  4. Optionally add a Description (up to 200 characters) so visitors know what the list is about.

  5. Open the Advanced settings section to set:

You can also start a list straight from your inventory: select some products and use the Create a new list bulk action.

Six ways to add cards

Open your list and use Add products to list. You can mix and match any of these methods:

  • Quick search — type a card name and add cards one at a time. The fastest option for a handful of cards.

  • Import a file — upload a CSV file. Great when you already have your list in a spreadsheet or exported from another tool.

  • Add by filter — browse the catalog with filters (expansion, rarity, and so on) and add everything that matches. Handy for things like "all the rares in one set".

  • Defined set — add a ready-made selection in one click, with presets for a Standard Set, Playset, Foil Set, Foil Playset, or Master Set. The quickest way to start a set-completion list.

  • Paste a list — paste card names as plain text, one per line, and CardNexus matches them to products. Perfect for deck lists copied from a deck builder.

  • Card scanner — point your phone's camera at your cards using the CardNexus mobile app and they're added as they're recognized.

A list can hold up to 2,000 unique products. There's no limit on the number of copies of each.

Per-card settings

Each card on a list has its own settings:

  • List qty. — how many copies the list calls for. A playset entry might want 4 copies, for example. Next to it, Inventory qty. shows how many matching copies you own.

  • Minimum condition — the lowest condition that counts. Copies in worse condition won't count toward this entry.

  • Language — which language you want for this card.

  • Finish / printing — which version of the card you're after (foil, a specific printing, and so on).

These settings live on the list only. Changing the condition, language, or finish of a card on a list never changes the copies in your inventory — it only changes what the list is looking for. You can set default values for language and minimum condition for new list entries under Settings → Preferences → Lists.

Working with many cards at once

Selection works on lists just like in your inventory: tick the checkboxes (Shift+click selects a whole range) and a bar appears with bulk commands — List for sale, Edit listings, Add missing products to inventory, Change language, Change condition, Delete from list, and Export selection.

💡 Tip: Just picked up cards you were missing — at a shop, a fair, or in a trade? Select them on your list and use Add missing products to inventory: everything you were missing lands in your collection in one click, and the list's completion updates itself.

Good to know

  • Removing a card from a list doesn't touch your inventory. Your copies stay exactly where they are — the card just leaves the list.

  • The same card can be on several lists at the same time.

  • Lists compare themselves to your inventory automatically, so as you acquire cards, your progress updates on its own.
