Becoming a Pro seller

How to open a Pro seller account or upgrade your individual account — what we ask for, how verification works, and when your listings go live.

Last updated About 4 hours ago

There are two ways to become a Pro seller: choose Professional when you set up your seller account, or upgrade an existing individual account from your settings. Either way, you'll go through a business verification with Stripe, and your listings become visible once your business details are complete.

Pro accounts are for registered businesses only, and are available to sellers in Europe, the United States and Canada.

Option 1: you're a new seller

The first time you list a card for sale, CardNexus asks What type of seller are you?

  1. Pick your country — it can't be changed later, and it determines your currency and shipping rates.

  2. Choose Professional.

  3. Fill in the Business information form (see What we ask for below) and click Continue to verification.

  4. Complete Stripe's business verification.

Option 2: you already sell as an individual

Go to Settings → Selling → Pro account. The page lists what you unlock and what changes, then:

  1. Click Become a Pro Seller.

  2. Confirm by typing become pro in the dialog — this is deliberate, because the switch is permanent.

  3. Fill in the Business information form and click Continue to verification.

  4. Complete Stripe's business verification.

Two conditions before the button appears: your individual identity verification must be complete, and your seller account must not be paused.

Once you confirm, your listings are hidden until your business is verified and your business details are complete. Nothing is deleted; they come back automatically. Payouts are paused during that time too.

The switch is one-way. You cannot go back to an individual seller account afterwards. Only upgrade if you actually operate as a registered business.

What we ask for

The exact fields depend on your country:

  • Company name — if your business has no separate name (sole traders, auto-entrepreneurs), use your full name.

  • Registration number (Europe) — SIRET/SIREN in France, Companies House number in the UK, Handelsregister number in Germany, and so on. Required in some countries, optional in others.

  • VAT number (Europe) — or tick I am not VAT registered if that's your case (for instance under the French franchise en base).

  • Tax ID — a national tax identifier where the country has one (Steuernummer, NIF, Codice Fiscale, …).

In the United States, the form asks for your EIN instead of a registration number and a VAT number. In Canada, it asks for your Business Number (BN) and your GST/HST number — or tick I am not GST/HST registered.

Your business address is taken from Stripe once verification completes. If Stripe doesn't provide a complete one, you can fill it in from Settings → Selling → Pro seller. In the United States and Canada, the address must include your state or province.

Verification with Stripe

Stripe verifies your business (what's called KYB, Know Your Business): registration, ownership, and the identity of the person representing the company. It typically takes 1 to 3 business days. Stripe handles the documents; CardNexus never sees or stores them.

While it's pending, a banner at the top of the site reminds you that your listings are hidden. You can keep working: import cards, price them, prepare lists — everything is saved and goes live at once when you're verified.

When your listings go live

Your listings become visible to buyers when all of these are done:

  • Stripe business verification

  • Company name

  • Registration number, where your country requires one

  • A complete business address (with the state or province in the United States and Canada)

The banner and the Pro seller settings page list exactly what's still missing. We also send you a reminder, then a final reminder a week later, if something is left. Uploading your legal policies and adding a VAT number are not required to go live — but they're strongly recommended, see Your business information and legal policies.

💡 Tip: Once you're verified, your business name and your registration and tax numbers are locked. To correct one of them, contact support rather than opening a new account.
