How Ratings & Reviews Work

Ratings and reviews help build trust on CardNexus. Learn how the double-blind review system works and what happens after every completed order.

Why Double-Blind?

On most platforms, whoever reviews first is exposed — the other party can see the review before writing theirs. This leads to problems:

Retaliation — leaving a bad review because you got one
Reciprocation — inflating your review hoping for a good one back
Gaming the timing — waiting to see the other person's review first

CardNexus prevents all of this. Reviews stay hidden until both are in, encouraging honest feedback.

The Review Window

After an order reaches a final status (completed, dispute resolved, etc.), a 7-day review window opens for both parties.

You can submit your review anytime within the 7-day window.

What You Rate

Buyers and sellers rate different things, reflecting their different roles in the transaction.

Buyers Rate Sellers

Category	What it measures
Item as described	Did the card match the listing? (condition, edition, language, etc.)	Required
Packaging quality	Was the card packaged well and protected during shipping?	Required
Communication	Was the seller responsive and helpful?	Optional

Each category is rated on a 1–5 star scale, and you can also leave an optional text comment. The communication rating is optional: if there was nothing to say, simply skip it.

The seller's overall rating is the average of the categories that were actually rated, so a skipped communication rating never counts against anyone.

Sellers Rate Buyers

Sellers give buyers a single overall rating on a 1–5 star scale, plus an optional comment. This covers things like: Was the buyer reasonable? Did they communicate well if there were issues?

What If You Don't Submit a Review?

If the 7-day window passes and you haven't submitted your review, an automatic 5-star review is generated on your behalf — with no comment.

This works the same way for both sides:

Buyer doesn't review — the seller gets an auto-generated 5-star rating (5 for item as described, packaging quality, and communication)
Seller doesn't review — the buyer gets an auto-generated 5-star rating

The auto-generated review assumes good faith — if nobody complained, the transaction presumably went well. But if you want your feedback to count, make sure to submit your review within the 7-day window.

When Are Reviews Revealed?

Reviews become visible to both parties when one of these happens first:

Both parties submit their reviews — instant reveal
The 7-day deadline passes — any missing reviews are auto-filled, then all reviews are revealed

Until that moment, your review is stored but completely hidden from the other party.

Reviews Can't Be Edited — But They Can Be Appealed

Once you submit a review, you cannot edit or delete it. This ensures authenticity: nobody can change their review after seeing what the other party wrote, so think carefully before submitting.

There is one safety net. If a review you received feels unfair, you can appeal it to CardNexus and the team will take a look. Appealing doesn't change the review by itself; it asks CardNexus to decide whether it should stay.

Appealing a Review

Both buyers and sellers can appeal a review they received.

Where: on the order page, from the ratings card, once the reviews are revealed
When: within 30 days of the review being revealed
How often: once per review — an appeal is a one-time request, so use it for reviews that genuinely misrepresent what happened

The CardNexus team looks at the appeal and decides:

The review stays — it remains on your profile as before
The review is removed — its stars no longer count toward your rating. Your review count stays the same, so your history remains honest; only the unfair score is taken out of the average.

One detail: a perfect 5-star review with no comment can't be appealed, because there's nothing to contest. A review with a comment can always be appealed, even if the stars are perfect — an abusive comment is exactly what appeals are for.

Where Reviews & Ratings Appear

Reviews are now public, not just the numbers:

Every seller profile has a Reviews tab. It shows the overall rating with the breakdown by item as described, packaging quality and communication — and below it, the reviews themselves: each buyer's rating, their comment, the date, their country and how many orders they've placed. Browse it before you buy to see how a seller really operates.
Your own profile has it too. Open your profile to read every review you've received, on the web and in the app (in the app: Profile → Reviews).
Buyer profiles show the overall rating and total number of reviews.
Ratings are visible to anyone browsing the marketplace, helping buyers find trustworthy sellers and sellers identify reliable buyers

💡 Tip: The shipping-time and completion-rate stats shown on a seller's page are calculated over their last 60 days of orders — they reflect recent performance, not all-time history.
